Make quantities to five easy to see, build and explain. These soft EVA five-frames have one row of five spaces and work with SchoolStore Number Board pegs and Connect a Cubes.
What you get
- Pack of 10 five-frames.
- One-by-five layout in durable EVA material.
- Compatible pegs and cubes are sold separately.
Classroom ideas to try
- How many do you see? Show three pegs briefly, cover the frame and ask children how they recognised three without counting each peg.
- How many more make five? Place two pegs in the frame. Children fill the empty spaces and explain: two and three make five.
- Compare and combine: build four on one frame and two on another. Ask which has more and how the groups could be combined. Use two five-frames when extending the activity to ten.
Invite children to explain what they notice, compare different strategies and choose equipment that suits their learning.
